Rep. Pam Myhra, R-Burnsville, whose district includes Savage, will be Marty Seifert’s running mate as he seeks the Republican nomination for governor against DFL incumbent Mark Dayton.

Myhra will not seek re-election this year for her District 56A House seat.

In a statement issued by Seifert’s campaign, Myhra said her choice to join his ticket was an easy one.

“I truly believe Marty Seifert is the right person for the challenges our state faces and is absolutely the best candidate to defeat Mark Dayton next fall. Marty is a person of integrity who has the right Minnesota values and experience to unite our party, defeat Dayton, and implement the effective state government Minnesota desperately needs.”

Myhra was elected to the House in 2010 and serves on the Taxes and Education Finance committees and is the Republican lead for the House’s Early Childhood and Youth Development Policy Committee.

“Pam is a winner, defeating an entrenched multi-term incumbent Democrat in a swing district. She works hard on behalf of her constituents in the district she now represents, and will be a major part of carrying our team across the finish line in 2014,” Seifert said in a statement.
