Pam Myhra Announces Candidacy for State Representative
Commits to “Stand with You”
Long-term Burnsville resident and community volunteer, Pam Myhra, announced her candidacy for State Representative of House District 40A, which consists of central and western Burnsville and the northeastern section of Savage.
Myhra, a certified public accountant (inactive license), is running to advocate for responsible government, the promotion of jobs, and protection of family incomes. “I am deeply troubled by the direction of the Democratic-led legislature under which Minnesotans have suffered the loss of jobs, income, and financial security. While we worried about paying our mortgages, incumbent Representative Will Morgan and his Democratic colleagues tried to eliminate our mortgage interest and property tax deductions. And while we struggled with our family budgets, Democrats proposed to add sales tax to clothes and other necessities. I oppose this tax everything mind-set and I commit to stand with you, the residents of Burnsville and Savage,” Myhra stated.
Myhra, a Burnsville High School and University of Saint Thomas honors graduate, was a manager for KPMG, an international public accounting firm. She specialized in banking, insurance, and government until placing her career on hold to have a family. Myhra has since home-educated her children; all three are currently Dean’s List students at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota.
For the last eight years, Myhra served as coordinator of a teen community service group, SOS, and in a variety of leadership positions in grass-roots political activism. Recently, Myhra was accepted into the Minnesota Excellence in Public Service Series, a communications, leadership, and management program for female leaders.
Myhra and her husband Chuck have been married for 28 years. They are active members of Bethesda Church, where Pam served as the Women’s Ministries chair, and since the mid-1990s, as the girls’ club director and parenting class teacher.
Charlie Crichton, 17-year Burnsville City Council member, is Myhra’s campaign chair. She is seeking the endorsement of the House District 40A Republicans at the Senate District 40 Republican Convention on Saturday, February 27, 2010.
